Which Renewable Energy Source has the Biggest Potential?

Which of the following clean and renewable energy sources and related technologies do you think have the biggest potential to partially replace carbon-based energy sources in the near future:
- wind
- geothermal
- solar
- hydrogen (fuel cells)
- tides & waves
- hydroelectricity
- others?

All of the above have their pros and cons.
Concerning tidal and wave power, civil engineering and maintenance costs are high for limited output and lifespan (salted water is very aggressive).
Hydroelectricity has been used widely and again civil engineering is important as the environmental impact is on the nature (species in lake …)
Wind power seems to be quite used either in California or Denmark. We can discuss impact on birds or electromagnetic wave noise (even eye impact).
Solar seems to be a quite good solution, prices of photovoltaic have decreased over the past 10 years. Solutions are proposed to private individuals, energy produced is easily re-injected in the electricity network.

So what you think will be the most efficient way to generate electricity from renewable energy sources?

    Although the price of photovoltaic is still quite high, it is coming down all the time. The simplicity of the system (no moving parts), the increased length of warranty on the panels (20-25 years and longer), the ease of grid intertie and the use of net-metering, puts pv solar in a competative position for the future. It’s obviously expensive now, but in time, I believe PV solar will be one of the more efficient energy sources.
