Gamesa closes a new deal for the supply of wind turbine generators in the Italian market

The Spanish company will supply Alerion with a total of twenty-six 850 kW wind turbine generators

Gamesa CorporaciГіn TecnolГіgica has entered into an agreement with the Italian company Alerion Parco Eolico Licodia Eubea S.R.L., an affiliate of Alerion Industries S.P.A, for the supply of 26 Gamesa G5X- 850 kW wind turbines during 2009, amounting to a total installed power of 22 MW.

The wind turbine generators will be destined to the Licodia Eubea Wind Farm located in the Sicilian region of Catania. The above-mentioned agreement includes the supply of the wind turbines, their installation and start-up, as well as their operation and maintenance. The start of assembly work is foreseen for the first quarter of 2009.
The closing of this new agreement, the first with the industrial company Alerion, reinforces GamesaвЂ™s excellent position in the Italian wind energy market, where the company has installed more than 760 MW since it started up its activities.

From an environmental viewpoint, the wind turbine generators Gamesa will supply to the Licodia Eubea Wind Farm will contribute towards generating energy supplies that are respectful to the environment by avoiding the emission of pollutants to the atmosphere. More specifically, the annual production of these installationsвЂ™ 22 MW will replace 4,730 tons of petroleum equivalent (TPE) per year and avoid the emission into the atmosphere of 33,000 tons of CO2 a year.
