Jupiter Solar Power Ltd, subsidiary of Jupiter International has entered into an agreement with Centrotherm AG of Germany to set up a Photovoltaic Solar Cell Manufacturing Plant in Himachal Pradesh in North India. The plant has been set up at Baddi at an investment of Rs 1700 million. The Baddi plant would be equipped to manufacture 8.4 million photovoltaic cells per annum. Together, these cells have the capability to manufacture 34 MW of electricity. The Baddi plant is expected to commence “pilot production” from May 2009.
Further expansion planned includes enhancement of cell capacity by 180 MW and photovoltaic module capacity by 120 MW. Aggregate investment planned is Rs 10,000 million by 2011.
