“EDP University Challenge 10” With Incentive for Spanish University Students Interested Renewable Energy

Madrid, November 23rd, 2009

In its effort to create links between the labour market and universities, EDP Renováveis (EDPR) is once more promoting the “EDP University Challenge" competition for the second year in Spain.

“EDP University Challenge 10” is getting up and running with the slogan “EDP and renewable energies: a future side by side” and its objective of contributing to the development of academic excellence in undergraduates, postgraduates and PhD students (1st and 2nd cycle of the Bologna process). This initiative is aimed at university students, giving them the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to carrying out new projects related to issues of real concern to the company.

University students interested in the initiative can register on the EDP Renováveis website (www.edprenovaveis.com), where they’ll find the rules and registration form.

The projects that are presented in this year’s University Challenge should focus on the areas of strategy, marketing and/or engineering in the field of renewable energies.

The work can be submitted in both semesters within the dates stipulated in the rules, and will be evaluated by an independent panel of university professors, EDP Renováveis professionals and consultants.

The winning team will receive a scholarship worth 10,000 Euros and, if applicable, the professor who supervised the work will be awarded a research grant worth 3,500 Euros. The members of the winning group will also have the opportunity to undertake a period of work experience in EDP Renováveis, provided they meet the requisites of the company’s Human Resources department.
