SunCarrier – PV Tracking System of The future
Uniquely efficient technology for tomorrow’s energy
The sun, the greatest source of available energy, generates approximately 1,08 × 10 18 kWh per annum – about 10,000 times more than the world’s primary energy requirements. Part of this solar energy can be transformed into electrical power with the help of photovoltaics. The economic and ecological advantages of solar power have become increasingly important over recent years. But if solar power and the related equipment are to become economically relevant in terms of energy, the capacity available for manufacturing photovoltaics must be significantly increased and costs further reduced.
This is where the SunCarrier comes into play: Thanks to its unique and patented design, our system is redefining standards for photovoltaics and revolutionising the market. With a module surface area of up to 287.5 square meters (3,094.61 square feet), the SunCarrier – presuming standard modules are fitted – provides an average output of 38 kWp. If innovative high-efficiency modules are used, output can be increased up to 53 kWp per tracking system. At any given location in Spain, this would be the same as supplying more than 30 households with power, each consuming 3,500 kWh per annum.
SunCarrier 220/250/260/300
a+f GmbH offers various product series, depending on customer requirements and local conditions.
The SunCarrier 220 and 250 were designed for use at latitudes where wind and snow loads are high. The solid construction guarantees an optimal energy yield position, even in strong winds.
The SunCarrier 260 and 300 models feature a larger module surface area and an even more robust steel construction. They were developed for the market of southern countries and were consequently designed for lower snow loads. Both systems have a ground clearance height of 0.8 meter (2.62 feet) and a maximum height of between 6.5 meter (21.33 feet) and 7.2 meter (23.62 feet).
For the SunCarrier 220, 250, 260 and 300 the pitch angle of the module surface is 30° towards the horizontal. Thus, the modules that orbit the vertical axis with the tracking system are always aligned precisely towards the sun. Compared to fixed installations, these SunCarrier generate up to 30% more energy.
Technical details SunCarrier
Sophisticated and powerful
With the SunCarrier, the engineers at a+f GmbH have designed extremely safe, robust yet inexpensive tracking system. The result is a convincing product, an innovative tracking system.
In contrast to the increased vulnerability of conventional azimuth and elevation rotational tracking systems, the tracking systems made by a+f GmbH are so solid that the owner will be able to sleep soundly, even in extreme environmental and storm conditions. The wide footing dissipates wind force and snow loads to the earth safely, reliably and with absolutely no danger to the valuable modules.
In addition, the sturdy drive technology enables completely reliable operation. In order to guarantee optimal protection from corrosion, the steel components of all systems are galvanised.
Benefits of the SunCarrier
No pitching movements
Any forces impacting on the system are immediately directed into the foundations via the closed box of the steel structure without affecting the moving parts. This eliminates pitching movements very effectively. The SunCarrier therefore continues to work at maximum output when other systems are deflected by the wind.
Longlasting and stable
In comparison to conventional tracking systems: Many tracking systems seem to be loose or not robust enough. The central mast arm of a long-lasting and stable system must also withstand quickly changing gales, which also attack with massive torque. The consequences of insufficiently stable construction include high materials costs, higher levels of materials fatigue and the appearance of the dangerous pitching motion, which can lead to the destruction the tracking system and the module.

The right solution for every application
All SunCarrier models can be provided with common module types and sizes The SunCarrier may be used either as an individual installation or in large solar power plants.
To achieve the highest possible energy yields, solar power plants must adjust their module surface optimally to the current position of the sun. only this ensures an optimum angle for capturing sunlight and maximum yields can be guaranteed. The angle for capturing sunlight depends on the degree of latitude as well as the season and time of day.
The SunCarrier tracking systems provide in operational areas between 0° and 25° north or south latitude for the perfect adjustment of the solar modules to the current position of the sun. Compared to fixed installations, an additional yield of up to 35 % can be generated.
Viable and efficient
Investors, interested in the profit-oriented and future-proof generation of solar power, as well as the best possible return on investment, should decide for the SunCarrier and SkyCarrier series. The continuous alignment of the module surface towards the position of the sun significantly increases the energy yield of the solar module, thereby reducing cost per generated kilowatt hour (kWh).
In terms of commercial viability, the SunCarrier is significantly superior to other system for reasons of size, stability, low maintenance, efficiency and intelligent design features and these make it an enormously profitable and, first and foremost, future-proof investment. With continuous extension of our product range, we supplement and optimise our value proposal for customers with diverse requirements in terms of market, location, technology and investment environment.
